What is a Web Server?

A web server is a particular kind of server that handles the storing, processing, and online delivery of web pages to clients. It receives requests for web pages from clients (usually web browsers) and replies with the desired data.

The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) are both used by web servers to transfer data and create connections with clients. The web server accepts a request for a web page from a client (such a web browser) and responds by providing the requested page back to the client.

In order to produce dynamic web pages, web servers can also execute server-side programming languages like PHP, Python, and Ruby. As a result, web servers are able to generate pages that are unique to each user or to fetch information from a database and display it on a page.

A few well-liked web servers are IIS, Nginx, and Apache (Internet Information Services). These web servers are frequently used and are well-known for their efficiency, security, and dependability.
