Please ensure that the database host-name is set to 127.0.0.1 when installing phpBB.
You will need to delete, rename or move the installation folder manually after installation, this is required by phpBB to unlock full forum functionality, otherwise you will be limited to phpBB’s admin control panel.
The default nginx configuration provided by HostRooster is configured for Laravel applications by default and will not work with phpBB. Please view the gist for an example of a configuration you should use that will work with HostRooster.

You will need to set your domain in the nginx configuration example provided from example.com to the domain you are using and change the PHP version if necessary.
As of writing this (25th July 2021) the version of phpBB on composer does not support PHP 8.0. Version 4.0 of phpBB which is currently being worked on is compatible with the latest version of PHP.
