Plesk is a commercial solution aimed at the market of web hosting and server data center automation software for Linux and Windows-based retail hosting service providers. Plesk International GmbH, with offices in both Toronto, Canada and Schaffhausen, Switzerland, created it. The firm was created in 2000 in Novosibirsk, Russia, in the Siberian region of Russia. Other locations worldwide include Barcelona, Spain; Cologne, Germany; and Tokyo, Japan. In 2001, hosting automation software developed by Plesk Inc. was released to the public for the first time. When SWSoft bought Plesk in 2003, they renamed the company Parallels in 2008. In March of 2015, the Parallels service provider division changed its name to Odin. To better serve its customers, Plesk became a standalone business in December of the same year. WebPros, a global SaaS platform for server administration, acquired Plesk from its previous owner, British Oakley Capital Limited, in 2017. As of 2017, the purchase had been finalized. Currently, WebPros consists of the following software packages: Plesk, cPanel, WHMCS, and SolusVM.
