After failing out of college, he worked at CNET Networks from 2004 to 2006 before leaving to become the founder of Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com, Akismet, Gravatar, VaultPress, IntenseDebate, Crowdsignal, and Tumblr. He served on the CNET Networks Advisory Board throughout his tenure there.
