A initiative of the Linux Foundation, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), was established in 2015 to enhance container technology and bring the tech sector together to support its development. It was introduced simultaneously with Kubernetes 1.0, a seed technology provided by Google to the Linux Foundation and an open source container cluster management. Google, CoreOS, Mesosphere, Red Hat, Twitter, Huawei, Intel, Cisco, IBM, Docker, Univa, and VMware are among of the founding members. Today, there are more than 450 members that support CNCF. At the first CloudNativeDay in Toronto in August 2016, a program was unveiled in order to develop competent representatives of the technologies authorized by the CNCF.
